DURABILITY OF SHOE COVER

There are three factors that matter when it comes to shoe covers:
- type of shoes and their fitting to protectors
- selection of the appropriate model and size of the pads
- how to use pads

In general, as for all shoe covers, regardless of the manufacturer / model / materials they are made of - no shoe covers on the market will withstand "ground contact". Shoes, apart from road models and highly sporty MTB models, have a wide tread in the front, and sometimes also in the back. Closed-type protectors (MT500 / FreezingPoint / Road / Dexter / Deluge) have a closed bottom with holes for the shoe tread under the fifth and for clipless pedal blocks. Often, however, in the case of MTB shoes, the tread of the sole is wider and the material of the protector covers a part of it and touches the ground when walking.

When walking with the protectors on, both on concrete and in the field, we tread directly on the material - the strongest materials such as Kevlar / Cordura are used in Endury protectors, but when such a material is between the hard tread and the ground, it has no chance of surviving. Movements from home to the garage will survive, but approaches / breaks in driving and similar situations will over time destroy any protectors that are made for riding, not walking.

The exception are boots with an open structure of the bottom (Luminite), where a strong Velcro runs from the bottom through the middle, and most of the sole of the shoe is exposed, so we do not step on the material.

To sum up - shoe covers work only in the case of road shoes and very sporty MTB models in which you do not step on the material after putting them on. While driving, the protectors are very durable and by choosing the right model they will serve you without problems for a long time.
